Our Values
Community: We believe that the rich life God intends for us best happens as we are connected with each other. Our desire is that you will meet other people who will become a part of your life as you become part of theirs. We need each other as we learn, grow, give, receive, succeed, fail, struggle, and rejoice together as we pursue Christ-likeness. Community is defined by vulnerability and love in a connectedness to God and each other.
Authenticity: We desire that our church to be authentic with God, one another, and the human community. Authenticity means we don't hide our struggles and challenges, but are transparent for the benefit of ourselves and others. We know that we all struggle regularly, because of that we encourage one another to admit our mistakes, not to hide or try to cover them up. We believe God's grace is amazing and will carry us through our most difficult times. We want our authenticity to honor Christ and make a difference in a world full of people He loves.
Spiritual Maturity: We believe that maturity involves growing in the balance, humility, and practicality of wisdom that is reflected in the life of Christ. We focus on a 'whole life' commitment to Christ discipleship; those essential truths that Jesus taught and lived as demonstrated in Scripture. We value spiritual disciplines to help us grow in spiritual vibrancy, including the study of Scripture, prayer, worship, fasting, fellowship, and service. In light of the awesome mysteries of our faith, and strengthened through spiritual disciplines, we seek to live "life to the full" in Christ.
Accountability: We believe that all maturing believers need other maturing believers speaking into their lives on a consistent basis in order to grow spiritually and emotionally. We view accountability as a side-by-side walk through life, reminding one another of our responsibility to Christ, his church, other people and ourselves. We believe accountability is rooted in authentic and transparent relationships.
Unity: We want to be a community that is united in purpose and service to Christ. We best represent Christ when our hearts and attitudes reflect the humility of Jesus himself. We believe that gossip, murmurings, and accusation against members of the community and leadership are not a part of a loving, embracing, and caring community.
Intimacy: We believe that loving God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength is what Christ taught as a singular focus for our lives. We believe this is best lived by experiencing intimacy with God on a daily basis. It is in our intimate moments with God that we hear with His ears, see with His eyes, and feel with His heart, and experience life with His mind. Intimacy with God allows us to hear His whispers and move at the impulse of His Spirit in a reciprocal relationship.
Safety: We value being a church of safe Christ-followers. Safety means that all people can trust us with their heart and the sensitive areas and issues of life. We desire to create a community where people 'come as they are' as they seek a deepening of their relationship with Christ. We want to promote a community of trustworthiness, where the credibility of Christ himself is elevated because we as individuals value safety.
Serving: We desire to be a community of faith that lives as Jesus lived and taught. Jesus told his disciples that he came to serve, not to be served. We desire to be a community that understands that being part of the church means we serve others, both those within the community of faith, and those outside the community of faith, because people need God.
Love: We believe that the only way Jesus ever identified those as Christ-followers were by their love. We believe that all people have value, dignity and worth because they are made in the image of God and deserve love. Our love for others is a significant way in which they experience the love of God. We desire to create a community that expresses God's love so significantly that those outside the community can't help but wonder why we love.
